Important Information Regarding Your Rates

The Broad River Water Authority (BRWA) rate structure for residential customers is $24.25 base rate per month, and includes the first 1,000 gallons of water used.  Each additional 1,000 gallons of water is $4.80 per 1,000 gallons used. Typically, a household of four may use between 5,000 to 7,000 gallons per month (average of 2,000 gallons per person per month) which means your bill may run from $43.45 to $53.05 a month for water.

If you reside in or near the town of Rutherfordton, Spindale, or the Cliffside area your bill may also include charges for sewer service. BRWA acts only as the billing/collection agency for Rutherfordton, Spindale, and Cliffside; and sewer rates and connection fees are set solely by those entities. Currently monthly sewer rates are:

• Rutherfordton (Inside City Limits): Base rate of $11.85 plus $4.61 per 1,000 gallons
• Rutherfordton (Outside City Limits): Base rate of $39.64 plus $15.42 per 1,000 gallons
• Spindale (Inside City Limits): Usage over 1,000 gal/month $4.75 per 1,000 gallons
• Spindale (Outside City Limits): Usage over 1,000 gal/month $9.50 per 1,000 gallons
• Cliffside: Base rate of $24.25 plus $4.80 per 1,000 gallons
